The PowerFlowMETHOD® Pilates Teacher Training Program

Melanie Johnson, owner of PowerFlowStudio, began offering Pilates teacher training and continuing education workshops based on the Classic Method of Pilates in 2000, formerly for The PhysicalMind Institute and also for Balanced Body University. Melanie has trained, certified and developed many successful Pilates teachers and programs both in the Greater New Haven area, and throughout
the East Coast.

The PowerFlowMETHOD® Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive program, based upon the work of Joseph H. Pilates, as well as current and proven bio-mechanical principles of movement.

Our Program will focus on developing your ability to teach the whole individual with the complete Classic Pilates Method of Body Conditioning, versus just teaching pieces of the apparatus, parts of the exercises or leading mat classes.

As a student of this program, you will develop teaching skills that will maximize the Pilates experience for a wide variety of clientele. The PowerFlowMETHOD® is a unique, comprehensive program based on the Classic Pilates Method, with small class size, individual attention, apprentice and mentorship programs and highly qualified teacher trainers and assistants.

The PowerFlowMETHOD® Pilates Teacher Training Program consists of a required pretraining weekend, followed by six intensive weekend trainings that focus on mat and equipment exercises as well as pertinent lecture information about the Pilates method, professional teaching skills and practical experience. These trainings are offered in New Haven, nationally and internationally. The teacher trainee will also participate in self practice hours, study and mentorship to develop skills and knowledge for teaching group mat classes and individual Pilates sessions.

As a student of The PowerflowMETHOD® Pilates Teacher Training program, you will learn…

• The Classic Pilates Method of exercises: beginner through advanced mat and all apparatus.
• The concept behind The Classic Pilates Method and the specific order of the exercises.
• The primary goal of each exercise, tempo and proper execution.
• How to “see” and help to correct postural alignment and movement limitations in your clients.
• Special client populations, modification, variations and adaptions.
• How to structure private, duet, and semi-private sessions and group mat classes.

Submit a resume that tells us about your professional and Pilates background.

We require that you have a minimum of 2 years of Classical Pilates training on all mat and apparatus, and are currently a student of a classically trained teacher or studio.

Submit a PowerFlowMETHOD Pilates Teacher Training agreement.

Submit a letter of recommendation from your current Pilates teacher.

You will be notified by mail once you are accepted into the Teacher Training program. It is recommended that you purchase the Classical Pilates dvds to assist you to properly prepare
for the program: www.classicalpilates.net

Once you have been accepted, you are required to pay a deposit of $300 sixty days prior to the first pretraining weekend. You will receive more specific information after you pay your initial deposit.

All fees must be paid in full 30 days before the date that the program is scheduled to begin.

*The program does NOT include apprentice fees.

The fee for apprenticing at PowerFlowSTUDIO is $1500. This includes your use of the studio during your training program, observation time, special discounted rates on private sessions and classes, complimentary mat classes (based on availability), and self practice hours.
